Readers are Leaders!

I was on my way to bed this evening and checking on the girls. I found Mary sound asleep with a Junie B. Jones book!

I had to get a quick picture and post it! Posted by Picasa

Fun on a Saturday Afternoon

The girl's Best Friend (and next door neighbor) Taylor (holding the box of candy in the back) is selling candy for fundraising at school.

The girls made up a sign - "Candy $1" - and waved it at every car that came down the street for a couple of hours. (That was a total of maybe 5 cars!).

Total money made $4. $2 from selling candy amongst each other and $2 from people stopping.

In the front we have Mary in a Monkey King pose. The littlest one is Taylor's little sister, Madison. Louisa is trying to hold up the sign in the breeze (it was a nice day, but windy. That's why you see jackets and bare feet!). Julia is the cashier. Posted by Picasa

All My BoingBoings

This morning I woke up to find I had made it onto

boingboing.net (A Directory of Wonderful Things) yet again. Just increasing my Whuffie, I guess.

I first found boingboing in March 2004 from a link sent in a list I am on for an old Science Fiction club I was in during the early 80's (Lexfa - The Lexington [Ky] Science Fiction Association)

By the end of the month I had made it ONTO boingboing.

Boingboing by proxy - I count this one as a friend sent it around at work and I suggested he send it in, where it was instantly accepted. I felt it would be.

Instant Roller Coaster

Julia got this K'nex Roller Coaster kit for Christmas almost 2 years ago. She was capable of making it when she was 8, but it really was too much.

It languished in the box in the playroom until this past Monday.

Janét and Julia built it in only 3 days. Fantastic! Posted by Picasa

Only a week ago, the place where the roller coaster is, was being used for Twister.

Oh No! It's the dreaded Frog Habitat project

Julia got a Frog Habitat for Christmas. We finally remembered to send off for the tadpole a few months later. It came in the mail this past Saturday. The girls have named it Leopard. (frog - get it?).

Here Julia poses by the Frog Habitat.

More pictures as the Frog develops. Posted by Picasa

Possum on the Back Porch

Marie went out this morning to pull laundry off the clothesline and found an unusual visitor at our bird/squirrel feeder.

It was probably attracted by the stale taco shells we put out there last night.

It stayed still as a.... er.. possum as I took several pictures. Looks like one of its eyes is damaged. I only see a good reflection of the camera flash in one eye.

Time for that great filk song ode to all marsupials - The Song of Marsupial Fandom! Posted by Picasa
