Possum on the Back Porch
Marie went out this morning to pull laundry off the clothesline and found an unusual visitor at our bird/squirrel feeder.
It was probably attracted by the stale taco shells we put out there last night.
It stayed still as a.... er.. possum as I took several pictures. Looks like one of its eyes is damaged. I only see a good reflection of the camera flash in one eye.
Time for that great filk song ode to all marsupials - The Song of Marsupial Fandom!

I heard tell that if you mix some pepper seed in your birdseed, the mammals will stay out. Not much help with squirrel feed, but good to keep critters out of the bird feeder. The birds don't mind pepper seeds.
Better a 'possum on the back porch than a 'dillo using your yard as a buffet. I've soaked the yard and bordering woods in castor oil (supposed to repel them w/o harm). They apparently didn't read the label.
