Allatoona Battlefield - Civil War Encampment
Mary next to the Trail Map
On Saturday Oct 1 we visited the Civil War Battlefield at Allatoona Pass here in Northwest Georgia. This battlefield is only about 5 miles from our house as the crow flies, but about 15 miles away driving because of the mountains and the man made Allatoona lake.
The Battle of Allatoona Pass occurred on October 5, 1864. This being the weekend closest to the battle anniversary, a group of reenactors had encamped for the weekend and special tours were being given of the site.
Webpages with more info on the battle can be found at the following URLs
