Julia and I drove up to Franklin, TN to visit my Parents, sister, and niece and nephew.
On short notice I could only take one of the girls. On Saturday evening I was watching the local news and heard about this Patriot Day Celebration and Flag Display that was being held on the campus of Battle Ground Academy, a private school that has been in Franklin since 1889.
According to the America Remembers Website
The Second Annual America Remembers -- Flags of Honor - A Patriot Day Celebration
Franklin, Tennessee
Saturday, September 10, 2005
Tennessee became known as "The Volunteer State" during the War of 1812. Since then, many thousands have answered the call during times of war and peace. On Saturday, September 10, 2005, hundreds of Volunteers will honor our Armed Forces personnel by displaying an American flag for each U.S. serviceman or woman who has died in the war against terrorism since 9/11.

On Saturday, September 10, 2005, hundreds of Volunteers will honor our Armed Forces personnel by displaying an American flag for each U.S. serviceman or woman who has died in the war against terrorism since 9/11.
The flags will be flown in a field called AMERICA REMEMBERS - FLAGS OF HONOR. Additional flags will be displayed for active or retired military personnel who are being honored by family or friends. The flags will fly from 9/10 until 9/17 on the large lawn in front of Battle Ground Academy
The PATRIOT DAY CELEBRATION activities will feature a roll call of Tennesseans killed in action and recognition of the families in attendance. There will also be local patriotic entertainment, a military color guard, 21-gun salute, military, and many other activities. An evening fund-raising concert with nationally known talent and fireworks is also being planned, as is a Sunday morning service.
The presentation of over 1,900 flags will be an overwhelming and emotional display of patriotism, unity and remembrance of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Entertainment will begin at 4 p.m., with the flag ceremony program from approximately 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The concert will start shortly thereafter. After the ceremony, attendees may visit and walk through the Flags of Honor field any time day or night for the following week.

As we were leaving Franklin on Sunday, I decided to stop by BGA to see the display, as it was only a couple of miles from my sister's house.
It was quite a moving display, as you can see.
